I've been doing these over my lunch breaks. HB pencil and notebook probably not the best materials, and they didn't scan in very well. All done off photos so not terribly impressive, but see what you think. I like the leema best.
I think they're very good, can certainly see your improvement.
Also, working from photos is never a bad thing. There are very few artists who just draw using their "minds eye" and even fewer who can afford the time or money to draw from real life animals/people.
Are you shading using dots, or is that just the shitty scan? :-) If you are using dots (or if you try hatching), try using ink (an engineers pen/fine-liner), it'll scan much better.
