Cosplay help required

I need suggestions for an iconic female charecter, from anime or game, to cosplay. I'm looking for somethinging that most people would recognise, even out of context. Something like Sailor Moon, Evangelion girls etc. It needs to be something I can pull off, and while I'd prefer something skimpy, but being recognisable is more important.

Any ideas?
