I don't think I'll bother plotting....
Oct. 20th, 2006 06:01 amThe party are quite capable of occupying themselves. For yestrday, I'd written a shortish game - finish off the encounter they were having; go rescue a princess; find out a bit more plot. Given what Dom had been saying, I decided I better make sure my NPCs were fully statted out, just in case anyting kicked off between them and the party. Amari is being cautious, so there were only two things they could have done that would have made her instantly attack. More on that in a bit...
When I first statted them, Zephyr and his party were statted to be much high than the party. Partly because I didn't want any chance of the party taking them out in the second game (that would have screwed up the campaign), partly to represnt the fact that they had been "adventuring" for about 5 years and partly because they were the heros, so should be hard. It would have been wrong to downstat them now, or at least to downstat Amari.
So, having spent some time remonising with these two, the party setting down to sleep. Halfway though, Ged (currently under the effects of "I picked up something big shiney and evil"), decideds to attack Bandez. Only one person made their listen check: Amari. Out of all of the party, Bandez is the only one she has any respect for. Had Ged picked on another party member, she probably would have rolled over and gone back to sleep.
So a fight ensues, with various people waking up to find half the party hurt, or pointing crossbows at each other. Turk stayed out the way and prepared to deal with anything that was left standing. Esselt took one look at the situation and decided to shoot Amari (or at least at). She didn't take to kindly to this and lamped him one.
Eventually the sword was removed from Ged and things begin to calm down. Until Esselt picked it up again. Aparently he wanted to see how evil it was. Fight begins anew. Eventually sword gets taken off, adn this time party deal with it.
So, they move on away from where they buried the sword and try to sleep again. Esselt and Ged are tied up for everyone's safety. Bandez is trying to stop Ralph knocking them out every five minutes. Esselt is pissed off, so is getting at Amari, because she gave a black eye. He calls her a lier. Anyone who has read the story will know the Folk don't lie. This is a very serious insult. So, she warns him off, twice.
In the morning he does it for a third time, so she hit him twice and left him bleeding on the floor.
I think the party managed to move about 50 foot in a 4 hour game. I love my players.
Now, I flee to Bergerac lands!
