My plan is to head into town sometime between 5.30 and 6.00, go to sainsburies nad pick up food for myself and Joe and then head up the hill. Probably walk, as I suspect buses will be packed.

Best thing to do would be to ring me and find out where I am, or let me know if you are going to be in a particular place at a particular time, and I will try and find you.

If anyone needs my number let me know.

Don't ask me about my day. I'm ignoring this week, or at least the hours I spent at work.Insead I will focus on the joy of exploding things.

Given that the University fireworks were shit last year, I have a different plan for fireworks this year.

I intend to be up on the hill, in front of Sham castle on the evening of Saturday the 4th so I can look over the city and watch everyone else's fireworks. I will probably have a flask of coffee and a picnic as well.

Hopefully lots of people will join me and it will be some kind of firework picnic party thing. I'm not sure how I'll get up there, probably walk into town and look at the bus queue (was planning to get up there for about 7ish).

Who thinks this is a good idea?

Were a bit lame in all honesty.

Given this was the 400th anaversary, it didn't seem like they went to the effort they could have done.

Yes, I got there a bit late (grr), but the earliest advertised starting time was 8.00 and they had started well before then. It seems several places were advertising an 8.30 start.

I'm not sure quite what it was, they just seemed to lack lustre. They were very pretty, but they weren't awesome. Maybe I had my hopes to high (I was really looking forward to it), but I feel it just wasn't all it could be.

Oh well. At least there were lots of people there. It was a bit like a larp. We were cold, damp and bitchy

Still, the walk along the river path up to the bus stop was amazing. There were fireworks going off at least once a second at times, lights and bangs either side of us. It was light being caught in a very pretty warzone. As Alex pointed out, you could have shot someone and no one would have notived until they found the body.

I now want to work fireworks into my story, but I'm not quite sure how.

*Hands sparklers to my charecters*

The suggestion for next year is to sit in front of sham castle with a blanket and some hot drinks and watch every display in the city.

We're going to see the fireworks up on campus tomorrow.

Plan is food at House of AAAAAAAArg first (turn up mid afternoon) and then walk into town to pick up any scragglers who had better offers of food and find a bus (aim to leave house by 7ish, town by 7.30).

I may be wrong but I belive they're free at the time.

Please let me know either here or by txt, especially if you want food ASAP.

Yay. Hanabi!
